The Vendée Globe: solo, non-stop and unassisted
The Vendée Globe is the only round-the-world race that is sailed solo, non-stop and without assistance- it’s no wonder that it attacts so many adventurers eager for an extraordinary sailing experience! This famous race was created by the great sailor Philippe Jeantot, who marked the start of the first edition on November 26, 1989 in Les Sables d’Olonne, France.
The course of this race, often called “The Everest of the Seas,” stretches over 40,075 kilometers and passes around three capes: Good Hope, Leeuwin and Horn. The skippers first sail in the Atlantic Ocean, then in the Indian Ocean and finally make their way back up the Atlantic!
This exciting nautical event will start in Les Sables d’Olonne on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at 1:02 PM!
Sail the open seas online with the Virtual Regatta
Virtual Regatta, an offshore and inshore racing simulator, allows more than a million players each year to challenge real skippers on real races.
While you enjoy the “slow life” of sailing from the comfort of your home, feel the thrill of virtually navigating an IMOCA around the world, and challenging distinguished sailors like François Gabart in The Vendée Globe 2020-2021 race.
A Click&Boat ambassador since 2018, François Gabart, helped by his team Mer Concept, will be sailing virtually:
“I am delighted to be part of the adventure with Click&Boat and to join the online community of players on Virtual Regatta. It will be an exciting experience that we will live together. In these difficult times, we realize we can’t do everything we once did, so this is an excellent opportunity to meet again. It’s a special edition, I can’t wait to face other players and be part of this great adventure” says the youngest winner (29 years old) of the Vendée Globe to date.
