Discover hidden gems, the best activities and the must-see places

Although known mostly for its non-stop nightlife, bars and clubs, the island of Ibiza has much more to discover, such as its amazing natural and cultural landscapes… Get off the beaten path with our Ibiza Travel Guide and venture into the heart of the island whilst exploring the most beautiful places on the way!

Ibiza’s hidden gems

In the city of Ibiza, be sure to take a trip to the historic district of Dalt Vila, Ibiza’s Old Town – a real journey back in time. Surrounded by a wall dating back to the 16th century, you can stroll through the atypical narrow streets of the UNESCO World Heritage area. Here, you can also visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria de las Nieves or enjoy a breathtaking view of the city from the bastion of Santa Llúçia.

The best activities

Situated in the heart of the Mediterranean, the island of Ibiza offers a large choice of water sports and activities. Amateur divers and snorkelers can explore the seabed, especially in the Cala Xarraca in the north of the island and just next to the town of Portinatx.

To fully enjoy your stay and be able to easily move from cove to cove, you should rent a boat. On board a catamaran or sailboat, you can head towards the most beautiful anchorages on the island. For the sporty types, a motorboat will allow you to try wakeboarding or water-skiing. Additionally, you can sail to Benirrás, Punta Galera, Torre del Pirataou to admire the beautiful sunsets.

The must-see places in Ibiza

Sant Antoni de Portmany: The Festive Hub

The former fishing village of Sant Antoni de Portmany is now converted into one of the most touristy places of Ibiza. Known especially for its festive nightlife, the village is located on the west coast of the island. Along the bay of San Antonio, you can find many coves and inlets, real treasures of nature.

Cala Salada: The Coves’ Paradise

Additionally, the coast of Cala Salada, about 5 km from the center, is home to many coves, including the beautiful Caló des Moro and ses Variades. For excursions, go to the Cueva de Ses Fontanelles, and see the impressive cliffs.

In the north of the island, find Portinatx, a small seaside resort where there are several stunning beaches including S’Arenal Gros and S’Arenal Petit. In Port de Sant Miquel, about twenty kilometers from Portinatx, you can visit the Can Marçá cave. The cave is more than 100,000 years old and nestled in the heart of a cliff. Spanning 8500m², the cave houses several rooms including the Cascade Room and its fluorescent waters.

East Coast Mystique: Es Vedrà

On the east coast of Ibiza, facing the Cala d’Hort, you can discover the nature reserve of Es Vedrà and its mysterious uninhabited island. This island gets its mysterious reputation because it is surrounded by many legends suggesting that the famous rock has some magnetic force. Here you can admire the largely untouched nature reserve.

Santa Eulària des Riu: Cultural Heritage

Just twenty kilometers to the east from Ibiza lies Santa Eulària des Riu. The area has an important cultural and historical heritage. Visit the church of Puig de Missa, which overlooks the city, or take a trip around the city and see for example the tower of Campanitx, which will offer you an exceptional panoramic view of the sea and the island of Tagomago.

Natural Park of Ses Salines

The natural park of Ses Salines, is also a true marvel. Between land and sea, extending from the south of the island to the neighboring island of Formentera. As for Es Vedrà, this protected natural area has a wide variety of plant and animal species.
