When winter starts to feel endless, treating yourself to a getaway can be the perfect way to clear your mind and recharge. While sailing or enjoying the sun in February might seem unlikely at first, there are actually plenty of destinations that are ideal at this time of year.

Wondering where to sail in February? Here are a few carefully selected destinations, some far away for a complete change of scenery, others closer to home for easier logistics, perfect for relaxing on the water before spring arrives.

Zanzibar

Located off the coast of Tanzania in East Africa, Zanzibar is a true tropical paradise. White-sand beaches, colourful coral reefs and traditional fishing villages make it an exceptional sailing destination.

In February, Zanzibar enjoys average temperatures of around 29°C, with plenty of sunshine, warm waters and light winds, ideal conditions for cruising. Set sail towards Mnemba Island, a breathtaking spot for snorkelling where you may even swim alongside dolphins in crystal-clear waters.

As evening falls, enjoy a magical sunset over the Indian Ocean aboard a traditional dhow.
❤️ Our favourite experience: exploring the spice market in Stone Town, a semi-covered local market best visited in the morning, either before or after a day at sea.

The Seychelles

The Seychelles are a dream destination year-round, but February is an especially smart choice. Outside of Christmas and school holiday periods, the islands are quieter and often more affordable.

With temperatures between 27°C and 28°C, February coincides with the north-west trade winds, offering pleasant sailing conditions. Cruise from Mahé to Praslin and La Digue, stopping at Curieuse and Cousin along the way. You’ll discover secluded anchorages and beaches regularly ranked among the most beautiful in the world. ⭐ Fun fact: February is the last month to witness sea turtle nesting in the Seychelles.

Sicily

Closer to mainland Europe, Sicily is perfect for sailors who prefer milder temperatures and fewer crowds. In February, the island is far less busy than during the summer months, making it ideal for a cultural and maritime escape.

Expect temperatures around 15°C, swimming may be limited, but harbours are calm and the sea is often suitable for day trips. From Trapani, sail to the Egadi Islands, a wild and unspoilt archipelago perfect for a peaceful cruise. On the east coast, sailing between Catania and Taormina with Mount Etna in the background offers unforgettable scenery.

💡 Our tip: stop in Favignana, the most charming of the Egadi Islands, for lunch in a small harbour.

Dominican Republic

A Caribbean classic, the Dominican Republic is renowned for its endless white-sand beaches, turquoise waters and relaxed atmosphere. February brings near-perfect conditions: temperatures around 28°C, low humidity and gentle trade winds.

From Punta Cana or Bayahibe, set sail towards Saona or Catalina Island, lined with palm trees and surrounded by vibrant blue waters. Whether you enjoy snorkelling, diving or simply relaxing at anchor, there’s something for everyone.

❤️ Our favourite experience: visiting the Bay of Samaná in February, where humpback whales migrate to breed in the warm Caribbean waters, a truly unforgettable sight.

Now you know where to sail in February to escape winter and make the most of the season. With Click&Boat, you can rent a boat with or without a skipper and enjoy a stress-free day on the water, discovering some of the world’s most beautiful destinations.
