Day 1: Marina Punta Ala to Portoferraio 22NM l 3HRS 40MIN

Begin your sailing adventure at Marina Punta Ala. Weigh anchor early in the morning and sail to Portoferraio, the most populous town of Elba Island. Navigate through the Tyrrhenian Sea, enjoying the gentle breeze and panoramic views of the Tuscan coastline. 

As you approach Portoferraio, marvel at the sight of the imposing Forte Stella and Forte Falcone. You’ll be greeted by the ancient Greek/Roman mooring known as the “Darsena Medicea.” This historic harbour, commissioned by the Medici family in the 16th century, offers a glimpse into the rich maritime heritage of the region. 

Once moored, disembark to explore the streets of Portoferraio and visit the Medici fortress, where Napoleon was briefly exiled. End the day with a delicious seafood dinner, savouring the flavours of the Mediterranean as you watch the sunset. ☀️

Day 2: Map of Tuscany, Italy: Portoferraio to La Biodola to Marciana Marina 11NM l 1HR 45MIN

After breakfast, take a swim in La Biodola, one of the most famous and visited beaches of the Island thanks to its colours. Spend some time swimming, snorkelling, or simply basking in the Mediterranean sun on deck. 

After enjoying the beauty of La Biodola, continue your journey westward towards Marciana Marina. As you sail, you’ll pass by the towering peaks of Monte Capanne providing a dramatic backdrop. ⛰️

Arrive at Marciana Marina, moor your boat in the quaint harbour and explore the narrow streets lined with colourful houses, boutiques, and cafés. Take a stroll along the waterfront promenade, soaking in the relaxed atmosphere and savouring the fresh sea breeze.

Day 3: Map of Tuscany, Italy: Marciana Marina to Fetovaia to Marina di Campo 21NM l 3HRS 30MIN

Point the bow towards Marina di Campo and its fantastic beach. Fetovaia is approximately 7-8 nautical miles away and the journey should take around 1–2 hours. If Sirocco blows, you should have a safe anchorage. 

From Fetovaia, you’ll sail northeast along the coast to reach Marina di Campo. The journey should take around 1 hour or so, depending on wind conditions. Finally, a lunch or a dinner in one of Marina di Campo’s typical restaurants is compulsory: the food will make you crazy!🍝🍕

Day 4: Map of Tuscany, Italy: Marina di Campo to Golfo dellaLacona to Golfo Stella 17NM l 2HRS 45MIN

Set sail from Marina di Campo and head east towards Golfo della Lacona. Along the way, you’ll pass stunning coastal scenery and have the opportunity to anchor for swimming and snorkelling. 

Sailing to Golfo Stella, you’re well protected from Mistral winds, and it’s a perfect to have a safe anchorage. ⚓

Day 5: Map of Tuscanny, Italy: Golfo Stella to Porto Azzurro 13NM l 2HRS

Just 18 miles far from Marina di Scarlino, Porto Azzurro is the best locality to stay the last night of your sailing holiday. Visit historic sites such as the Forte San Giacomo or the Sanctuary of Madonna del Monserrato. You can also relax on the beach or take a hike in the hills for beautiful views of the coast.

Porto Azzurro serves as an excellent base for exploring the nearby islands and beaches. Consider taking a day trip to Isola dei Topi or Isola della Pianosa. Alternatively, you can sail to nearby beaches such as Barbarossa Beach or Reale Beach for a day of sunbathing and swimming.🏊

Day 6 and 7: Map of Tuscany, Italy: Porto Azzurro to Marina di Punta Ala 17NM l 2HRS 45MIN

You can take the last swim in Cala Violina, one of the most beautiful bays of the area, where hearing the sand sound under your feet will be the right goodbye to this sailing holiday.🏖️

After breakfast, it’s time to sail back to Marina di Campo to conclude your sailing holiday. Enjoy one last sail along the coastline of Elba. Furthermore, taking in the scenic views one more time.
