The Italian Riviera is a uniquely beautiful coast just waiting to be explored. Good food, emerald blue water and pastel-coloured villages each more picture-perfect than before. The Italian Riviera is located in the northwestern corner of Italy, in the region of Liguria. It stretches along the Ligurian sea with many fishing villages and rugged cliffs.

This dramatic coastline is known mainly for Portofino and Cinque Terre. There are many cliffside villages to visit with your Click&Boat boat rental!

Cinque Terre

There is nothing like visiting the Cinque Terre fishing villages for a long weekend, eating delicious pasta and snorkelling through the water. Or why not try the authentic Farinata di Ceci from the Cinque Terre, made from chickpea flour!

There are 5 villages: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Each with its own beautiful aspect, this is a great route to do through the Italian Riviera.

Monterosso

Monterosso is the largest of the five coastal villages. The village is located on hills cultivated with lemons, vines and olives. When you hire a boat, why not stop in Monterosso for an aperitivo with olives? You can see the beautiful medieval tower of Aurora from the water and listen to the background of the waves crashing along the side of the boat.

Then appreciate the new part of the city in Fegina! Fegina is full of life with pleasant restaurants to enjoy lunch or dinner when you’re taking a break from the boat. You will also be able to see the ruins of the castle and characterized by the famous statue that represents Neptune, the god of the sea. Now it has become the symbol of Monterosso.

Vernazza

Vernazza is the most characteristic part of the Cinque Terre. Classified as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, the best way to get to this breathtaking village is by sea. The tiny port is surrounded by subtle colourful pastels and a charming square or “piazza” lined with good restaurants. The medieval castle, Belforte, was built in the mid-1500s, primarily to protect the village from pirates. The village is surrounded by very steeply terraced olive groves, so make sure to take with you some of the finest olive oil in the country!

Corniglia

Corniglia lays on a small cape, 100 meters above the sea. When you arrive with the boat, you will need to go up a footpath to arrive. This is an ancient Roman village that has a long and rich agricultural tradition. Surrounded by vineyards and terraces, its architecture is closer to that of a rural inland village than a coastal village.

It is thought that the inhabitants of the Vara valley, searching for a climate perfect to harvest grapevines and olive-trees so they moved towards the coast. This town is special, overlooking the sea and it is characterized by the typical stone houses with coloured small villages.
