Authentic, stunning and idiosyncratic, Sardinia is undoubtedly a great destination for a sailing adventure. Keen to discover Sardinia and looking for advice on which parts of the island you should visit? Look no further, Click & Boat is here to help!

Conveniently located between the southern tip of Corsica and the northern tip of Sicily, Sardinia is an unusual island. Surrounded by sea, the island is home to mountains, plateaus, salt lake and caves, as well as picturesque towns where time has stopped. But it’s the island’s laid-back vibes and the warmth of the locals that make this piece of land truly special.

Deciding where to go in Sardinia is not an easy choice! So why not combine an excursion on the mainland with a boat trip to explore this Mediterranean gem?

Discover Sardinia and its stunning beaches

Cala Mariolu

Part of the province of Baunei and overlooking the Gulf of Orosei, Cala Mariolu is one of the most beautiful bays in Italy. The sea surrounding this long stretch of coast is characterized by shades of blue and turquoise, contrasted by the pure white of the small pebbles dotted along the beach.

Are you a diving lover? This is a perfect place for snorkeling or diving sessions to discover Sardinia’s rich marine life, as the seabed here is full of colorful little fish.

It’s hardly reachable by land, so renting a catamaran or a dinghy will be the ideal option to get as close as possible to the shore. Their low draft will allow you to moor everywhere, even in shallow waters.

Cala Goloritzè

Cala Goloritzè is one of those destinations that you just can’t miss if you want to discover Sardinia this summer. Overlooking the east coast of Sardinia and located near to Cala Mariolu, Cala Goloritzè has been a national park since 1995. No wonder why, since the crystal clear sea almost deceives the eye with its bright colours. This long strip of beach is covered by myriad white pebbles sparkling in the sunlight. Not falling in love at first sight with this otherworldly place is practically impossible!

La Maddalena Archipelago National Park

We are now on the north of the island, visiting one of the most beloved destinations for boaters. Visit the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park and you will feel like being in the Caribbean! Seven islands make up the archipelago: La Maddalena, Caprera, Santo Stefano, Budelli, Spargi, Santa Maria and Razzoli.  With their  golden sand and crystal-clear waters, they create a landscape that resembles a painting. Nature is the greatest artist after all.

Given the number of bays and coves that you can visit in the archipelago, a boat trip is the best option. From the famous Pink Beach of the Island Budelli to the natural beauty of Cala Coticcio, Maddalena offers a wide range of experiences to  boatmen. Two other spots worth visiting are the the emerald sea of Cala Corsara in Spargi and the magnificent Cala Lunga, a cove on Razzoli Island.

Chia Bay

A small hamlet on the south west of the island, Chia Bay is located in the province of Cagliari. 6 kilometers of coast washed by a crystal clear sea will welcome you with their enchanting beauty. You will find here bright colors, endless sunshine and a dreamy beach, as the idyllic landscape serves as the perfect setting for Mediterranean-style relaxation. As one of the most popular seaside resorts in Sardinia, Chia offers numerous historical and natural attractions, most notably pink flamingos that you can spot along the sand dunes.

Stintino

Located in the province of Sassari, Stintino is located on the north-western coast of the region. Its wild nature and breathtaking scenery make it one of the most loved stretches of coast in the Med. Take for example Spiaggia della Pelosa and Pelosetta, two wonders of nature! And don’t miss the opportunity to visit Spiagge delle Tonnare, Olbia, Saline, Alghero and, last but not least, the stunning Cala Lupo.

Neptune’s Grotto

Breathtaking and almost suspended in time, Neptune’s grotto is one of the most interesting places to visit in Sardinia! Undoubtedly one of the most precious treasures of the Mediterranean, the rock formations in this cave date back to about 2 million years ago. Do not miss the opportunity to get into the heart of this spectacle of nature: enter through the long “ladder of the roe deer” (654 steps) or by sea, sailing along the Coral Riviera to discover this magnificent wonder of nature.
