The Seychelles, located off eastern Africa in the Indian Ocean, is an archipelago known for its translucent lagoons, white sand beaches and nature reserves where you can find rare animals such as giant turtles. Mahé, Praslin and La Digue are among the main islands where the majority of activities are concentrated. But when is the best time to go to Seychelles ? To know which period is the best for you, come with us to discover everything you need to plan your stay and your unforgettable trip at sea.

The climate in Seychelles

As the islands are located close to the equator, the tropical climate remains warm and stable all year round, with temperatures between 26°C and 31°C. So, take your sunscreen with you (the UV index is very strong) ! There is not really a bad season to go there, only different conditions depending on the months.

Why discover the Seychelles by boat?

The Seychelles are the ideal place for an outing at sea ! The water is very often calm and the distances are short. The boat allows you to discover the 115 islands of the archipelago in complete freedom, to reach otherwise inaccessible places. Some beaches like Anse Lazio or Coco Island are even better from the shore and the country is one of the best spots in the world to admire coral and marine wildlife.

December to March:

With temperatures between 27°C and 28°C, this is the period of the trade winds (northwest winds) in the Seychelles. The heat is accompanied by short, but intense tropical showers. If you have already booked your tickets, do not panic, the sun usually comes back after half an hour and the water remains nevertheless very pleasant.
To make the most out of your stay, we advise you to go observe the laying (which take place until February) and hatching (starting from December) of sea turtles. The little turtles reaching the ocean at sunrise is a truly incredible experience !
It is the ideal time for the end-of-year holidays, but prices tend to be rather high.

April / May, October / November:

These months are often considered the perfect time to discover Seychelles. The temperatures and the weather are always very pleasant, with calmer winds, less rain and less humidity and therefore, a calm sea. Tourist traffic is also less important. If you want to take out your mask and snorkel, it is at this time because the visibility is particularly good, the sea is smooth and the marine wildlife very active. The conditions are obviously optimal for a great boat trip ! Take an excursion around Mahé, Praslin or La Digue to discover the islets like Curieuse, Coco Island, Saint-Pierre or Sainte-Anne and reach isolated beaches accessible only by sea, you will not be disappointed.

June to September:

During this period, the season is mild. Despite the fact that the wind blows a little and the sea is more agitated on the south side with more waves, the weather remains dry with less humidity and the sky is clear. While you can always enjoy a very nice snorkeling or boat trip on the sea, on land, it is also the perfect time for hiking. You can explore the islands on foot, enjoy nature and avoid the hot weather. We recommend the hike May Valley in Praslin. Classified by UNESCO, it is a way to discover the lush nature of the Seychelles, the species of the region (and its famous double coconut).

Even if you can go to the beautiful magnificent islands of the Seychelles all year round, the best time to go there is in the months of April / May and October / November. With Click&Boat, you can rent a boat with or without a skipper and enjoy a day on the water without constraints, to make the most of the country.
