The end of the year is just around the corner, and it’s time to start thinking about your New Year’s Eve plans. If you’re unsure about how to end the year with a bang, and start the next on the right foot, this blog is for you. We’ve compiled a list of some of the best New Year’s Eve destinations, to celebrate a happy evening with your close ones. Renting a boat is the perfect way to make the evening that little extra special!

Sydney, Australia

Of course, we couldn’t start this list without mentioning Sydney, Australia. When it comes to New Year’s Eve, the Australians know how to do it. Sydney is known for its spectacular firework displays, watched by millions online, and around the capital. The world-famous fireworks are shot over Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. The best view you can get of them is from the water, where you’ll get a front-row seat to the show.

The holiday season corresponds to the height of the Australian summer, so you’ll be able to enjoy the warm evening outside. Plus, Sydney is the perfect place to host a boat party. Spend the evening cruising around the harbor, passing the many famous landmarks of the city. And to start off the next year right, admire the early sunrise from the deck of your boat.

Venice, Italy

Next up on our list is Venice, Italy. With its charming canals lined with historical buildings, nothing sounds more appealing than a magical celebration roaming the city’s waterways. Celebrate the end of the year with a Venetian Spritz, followed by a fresh seafood dinner in town. At midnight, join everyone on St Mark’s square to welcome the New Year. Then boat off to admire the fireworks over the lagoon, and enjoy incredible views of the city illuminated at night.

Venice is an enchanting setting from where to start the next year. After a night of festivities, you can spend a couple of days visiting the different islands dotted around Venice, each island charming in its own way.

Dubai, UAE

If you’re looking for extravagant celebrations, head to Dubai. It’s just the place for a luxurious evening of fine dining and exclusive parties, so whatever your style is, you’re sure to find something for you. Hire a yacht to have the best view of the fireworks above the city skyline, and around its most famous landmarks such as Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah.

The temperatures around the end-of-year holidays are mild, so it’s the perfect destination for a night on the water. Whether you’re going with friends or family, you’re bound to spend an unforgettable night.

London, United Kingdom

No place is quite like London when it comes to the holiday season. If you’re looking for a high-energy New Year’s Eve celebration, head to London. You can spend a day strolling through the bustling streets of the capital, enjoying a hot chocolate or a cup of tea, and admiring the festive lights that illuminate London around the holiday season. On the 31st, for the best seats to watch the fireworks around the London Eye and Big Ben, take to the Thames!

Renting a boat is also a great opportunity to cruise along the river, and view the many landmarks built along the Thames. These include the Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge, the Shard, the Tate Modern, and many more. It’s very special to celebrate such an important date in one of the world’s most vibrant and historic cities.

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is an incredible place to celebrate New Year’s Eve, with its well-know mix of energy, tradition, and seaside beauty. The city comes alive with fireworks, street parties, and a lively atmosphere, especially around the iconic Plaça d’Espanya. People gather round the Magic Fountain to count down to the New Year. A special local tradition involves eating 12 grapes on the 12 strokes leading up to midnight. You’ll also get to see castellers (human towers), a Catalan cultural tradition.

Renting a boat in Barcelona gives you the unforgettable combination of the city’s vibrant energy and the quiet serenity of the sea. You can take the opportunity to boat along the coast, and take in the beautiful views of the mountains behind the city.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Known for its energetic and colorful carnival, Rio de Janeiro does not lose its energy come New Year’s Eve. If you’re looking for one of the most festive and lively nights around the world, Rio de Janeiro is the place to go. Take in the city’s energy by cruising along its beaches, and visit the islands dotted along the coast to get a feel for the country and its warm culture. Look out for iconic landmarks such as Sugarloaf Mountain, and the famous Christ the Redeemer statue.

On the 31st, the highlight of the evening is the grand fireworks display over Copacabana Beach. Millions gather to celebrate on one of Brazil’s most famous beaches. Join the revelers dressed in white to ring in the New Year. It’s also an opportunity to take part in an important tradition: locals send out small rafts to sea, as offerings to Lemanja, goddess of the sea. After midnight, you can join the beach parties and live music along the streets, or hop back aboard, to finish the evening with your loved ones, appreciating the festivities from afar.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

For a magical celebration, Amsterdam offers a charming and intimate setting. The city’s picturesque canals, historic architecture, and festive winter atmosphere create the perfect backdrop for a New Year’s Eve boat celebration. Cruising along the canals, you can admire the festive lights and decorations from the warmth and comfort of your boat. The cozy vibe of Amsterdam is perfect for a peaceful evening spent with close friends and family. In addition to the fireworks, Amsterdam’s lively atmosphere spills over into the streets, where people gather to celebrate. Cruise through the city, and join in the fun with the locals, for a memorable evening.

Phuket, Thailand

For those seeking a tropical escape, Phuket offers the ultimate New Year’s Eve destination. Known for its stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters, this Thai island is perfect for a peaceful celebration surrounded by nature. Enjoy a warm end of the year, cruising along the coastline. For a relaxed day, head to Maya Bay in the Phi Phi Islands, considered one of the world’s best beaches. And on New Year’s Eve, head back to Phuket to join the locals in counting down to the New Year in the old town. Watch the spectacular fireworks at midnight, before making the most of the nightlife along Patong beach.
