Understanding the Costs

Rental Prices

The cost of a daily boat hire on Click&Boat varies depending on several factors, including the type of boat, location, and season. Here’s a general overview of what you might expect to pay on an average:

  • Motorboats: Motorboats typically cost between €140 and €570 per day. A small motorboat in Spain could be as low as €140 per day, whereas a high-end motor yacht in the French Riviera might set you back at €540 per day.
  • Sailboats: Renting a sailboat can range from €170 to €650 per day. For example, a small sailboat in Croatia might cost around €130 per day, while a larger, more luxurious sailboat in the Mediterranean could be around €460 per day.
  • Catamarans: These boats are generally more expensive, with prices ranging from €390 to €900 per day. A mid-sized catamaran in Greece might cost approximately €490 per day, while a luxury catamaran in the Caribbean could be upwards of €1,000 per day.
  • RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats): RIBs are popular for their versatility and affordability, with daily rentals typically between €180 and €440. For instance, a RIB in Italy might cost around €290 per day.

Additional Costs

In addition to the base rental price, there are several additional costs to consider:

  • Fuel: Fuel costs are usually not included in the rental price and can vary significantly based on the type of boat and how much you use it. Budget an extra €45 to €180 for fuel, depending on your plans. You can check this fuel calculator to have an approximate estimation of the cost of fuel.
  • Skipper Fees: If you need a skipper, expect to pay an additional fee, on an average between €150 and €200 per day. Some boats include a skipper in the final rental price, so be sure to check the listing details with the boat owner before booking.
  • Insurance: At Click&Boat, you have the option to book without additional insurance or with insurance from our partner Allianz/Mondial Assistance. If you opt out of additional insurance, the boat owner’s liability insurance can still cover your boat. However, as the lessee, you are responsible for any damages beyond the boat itself. Check out our blog, to learn more on our insurances’ policy.
  • Security Deposit: For security deposits, directly discuss it with the boat owner. It will depend on the boat type and the size, estimates are always made on a case-by-case basis.

Seasonal Variations

Boat rental prices can vary by season, with higher rates during peak periods. For example, renting a boat in the Mediterranean during summer months (June to August) will be more expensive than during the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October). Booking in advance can sometimes help you secure better rates.

Budgeting Tips

  • Plan Ahead: Booking your boat rental several months in advance can help you secure the best prices and availability.
  • Compare Options: Use Click&Boat’s search filters to compare different boats and find the best deal for your budget. Pay attention to included amenities and services to avoid unexpected costs.
  • Check Reviews: Read reviews from previous renters to ensure you’re getting good value for your money. Look for boats with high ratings and positive feedback.
  • Consider Group Size: Renting a larger boat and splitting the cost with friends or family can often be more economical than renting multiple smaller boats.
  • Negotiate: Don’t be afraid to negotiate with boat owners, especially for longer rentals or during off-peak times. You might be able to get a discount or added perks.
  • Pack Wisely: Bring your own food, drinks, and water sports equipment if possible to save on rental costs. You also can check out our blog to know what to pack for a motorboat trip.
