Australia is a country with many different climates. From the tropics of Queensland to the searing heat of the outback to the more moderate climates in the south. Choosing which cities in Australia to travel to can sometimes be a difficult decision, but Click&Boat is here to help.
A boat hire in Australia is one of the most divine ways to see the almost 60,000 km of coastline. In fact, the size of Australia is often not fully appreciated when considering a holiday there. Australia is actually almost 7.7 million km² with a population of around 26 million. That’s over 30 times the size of the UK, with a population less than 40% that of the UK. It makes sense that the majority, in fact almost all, of the cities in Australia are on the coastline.
Two cities stand out from the rest for a boat rental in Australia: Melbourne and Brisbane.
Melbourne
Melbourne is definitely one of the coolest cities in Australia. It’s known for its cultural diversity, sport, tourist attractions, cool neighbourhoods and vibrant lifestyle. The city of Melbourne actually looks out onto Port Phillip Bay.
If you are standing on the famous beach of St. Kilda in Melbourne, to your left you will see the Mornington Peninsula. At the very end is a small gap between the Mornington Peninsula and the mainland on the right. This gap leads you out into the great open of the Bass Strait. The Bass Strait is the sea that separates this part of the Australian mainland, Victoria, from Tasmania.
During the summer, the Mornington Peninsula is an incredible place to visit. It is lined with the most incredible beaches. Many of these beaches are only accessible by boat. Due to the length of the coastline, you are almost certain to have the entire beach to yourself.
Brisbane
Hiring a boat in Brisbane gives you the opportunity to sail out to a number of islands. Your choices are Mud Island, Moreton Island and Russell Island just to name a few. Brisbane is home to some amazing tourist attractions too. You can visit the Australia Zoo for the day. Or head south on your boat towards the Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.
You can also visit the picturesque Peel Island, home to the Teerk Roo Ra National Park. It boasts sandy beaches such as Horseshoe Bay and several snorkelling sites. In Platypus Bay, you’ll see a large shipwreck. And the Harry Atkinson Artificial Reef on the north of the island is a great place to practice your diving skills.
Fishing lovers, and particularly fans of angling, will enjoy a sailing trip to Moreton Bay where a classic fishing competition is held every year. If you are a fan of competitive sailing, you can also attend the famous Brisbane to Gladstone yacht race, starting from the Shorncliffe Pier on Good Friday.
It has never been easier to charter a yacht in Australia. You can do it in a few clicks and at affordable prices via Click&Boat, the leading boat hire platform. You’ll find a wide range of boats to rent all over Australia, from small RIBs to traditional sailboats, as well as speedy motorboats and luxury yachts. Furthermore, you can charter a yacht with or without a skipper, depending on your boating experience and qualifications.
