As a matter of fact, one of the most notable locations on Lokrum island is the Benedictine Monastery. The monastery doubles as the city of Qarth in Season 2. Lokrum island was a filming location for scenes set in the city of Meereen in Season 4. The island’s botanical garden, with its exotic plants and trees, was transformed into the gardens of the Meereenese royal palace.
4. Split
The ancient city of Split was used as the filming location for the city of Meereen, one of the major cities in the Game of Thrones series. One of the most notable locations in Split, Diocletian’s Palace is a massive fortress built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century.

The palace’s distinctive basements were also used to film the scenes of Daenerys and her dragons being held captive.

5. Klis Fortress
The historic Klis Fortress, located in the village of Kliss just outside of Split, was used as the filming location for the city of Meereen’s fighting pits. Make your way through the streets of Meereen, just like Daenerys and her army in Season 4. Afterwards, catch an impeccable view of Split from the town.
6. Šibenik
Lastly, the city of Šibenik is a short distance north of Split. Not to mention, you can easily include it in a Game of Thrones sailing tour in Croatia. A beautiful city covered in red-roofed buildings, Šibenik was the filming location for the city of Braavos, the home of the Faceless Men. The city’s St. James Cathedral was the setting of the House of Black and White, where Arya Stark trains with the Faceless Men.
